Watch the Anaconda Hippo video without spamming your Facebook Profile

They are viral, be it the Anaconda – Hippo video or Truth about McDonalds thing. All your friends are sharing and liking them, they must be something cool. Are they ?

These pages want you to ‘like’ them and share on your Facebook profile before you actually see them. And without hesitation you do it. But remember when you like or share something on FB you are actually recommending them to your friends and telling them ‘Hey buddy check this out, its kinda cool’ and most probably they will click them, the same reason why you clicked at the first place. And these become viral.  So if something prompts you to share or ‘like’ it before you actually see them, no matter what it is, its some sort of SCAM. So don’t ever do what they tell.

As far as watching those videos or pictures are concerned, just google it and most probably you will find ‘em. And the Anaconda video, it isn’t that shocking.

Dislike button coming to Facebook…Really?

dislike How many times did you want to dislike something on the Web but could only find the Facebook “Like” button ? Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg told ABC News that they are aware about the user demands for a Dislike button and are considering that. So is Dislike button coming to Facebook any time soon ?

Pete Cashmore of Mashable in his column on CNN writes why Facebook will never implement the Dislike button. He feels it would damage the company’s relationships with brands, businesses and web publishers because a Disike button allows users to dislike their products thus affecting its reputation. Also web publishers won’t be desperate to implement a Dislike button and accept negative feedback from the users.

Yes, there are unofficial ways to ‘dislike’ things on Facebook. But what do you think, should Facebook officially implement the ‘Dislike’ Button ?

WordPress.com Weird Search Results

I was searching for something at wordpress.com and accidently put two spaces between words. I was shown a results page with some html codes in it. Curious, I added more spaces between words and the amount of code kept increasing. Don’t know the reason or whether temporal, but its interesting.

This is the search result with 2 spaces http://en.search.wordpress.com/?q=hello+++world&t=post.

Anyone knows why ?

So the QuitFacebook Day wasn't a flop

When the idea of mass quitting Facebook came up and lots of people pledged to do so, it was sure that not many are going to do that, even those who pledged to quit. May 31st passed without much problems for Facebook.

Many said the QF day was a flop. But Tom Spring from PC World tells why it was a success. He thinks only because of the mass publicity that it received Zuckerberg finally went on to do some privacy reviews. He says from past experiences it’s clear that only these kinds of user movements can make a difference in case of Facbook and not corporate kindness.

When knowledgeable people cannot participate in editing Wikipedia because they find it too confusing or difficult to edit articles, it is a serious problem that undermines the potential quality, breadth and depth of the content that we can offer to you.
